Harold and the Purple Crayon, Harold sets off alone and creates a wonderful world of his own. Inspired by this book, when I was just 6-years old I knew I would become an artist. Drawing became an outlet for my vivid imagination and refuge from a difficult home life.
After graduating with a BFA from the
Cleveland Institute of Art, I worked as an illustrator, graphic designer, art director, and web developer. After 20 years working at a hectic pace in publishing and advertising, I returned to graduate school for my MFA from
Marywood University. For the next 2-decades I was a professor, teaching graphic design and illustration at the
University of Findlay.
During this time, my own artwork was put on pause, but there was a deep yearning to return to my roots as an artist. The overarching theme of my life is the desire to make a difference – to use the talents I was blessed with to help others. In 2024 I finally began pursuing my own dream of becoming a published children's book author and illustrator!
